Inn From the Cold
Inn From the Cold uses church buildings around Calgary as a location for housing the homeless and working poor. Grace has been operating as a site for Inn From the Cold for about 10 years. For every even volunteers are required to do set-up (cots, washrooms, eating facilities) and clean up. Others are needed to cook dinner or breakfast (for about 25 people), and to provide lunches or do laundry of bedding. Each event sees guest arrive by bus at the church around 5:30 PM. They are fed and offered entertainment (DVD movie, books, etc), clothes, children's games, etc. They sleep on cots in our gym. A male and female volunteer are required to stay with them from 6 PM to midnight and again from midnight to 6 AM. Breakfast is served around 6:30 and they are picked up by bus around 7:30.
